Master Xehanort Apprentice

Master Xehanort's Apprentice is a very enigmatic figure. People also know him as "DS" meaning Dark Soldier. Very little is known about him thus far. He appears as a nemesis in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Sometime early in the game, or possibly before the game begins, Master Xehanort goes missing, alongside his apprentice. Terra, Aqua, and Ven, three young warriors, go in search of them, as their disappearance foreshadows a great disaster. For a bit, it appears as though the apprentice is separated from his Master. Terra has a meeting with Master Xehanort separately, discussing the apprentice's fall into darkness. Terra and Ven also fight the apprentice alone, and are able to remove his helmet (though his face is never shown, adding to the mystery of his character). At some point, he rejoins his Master for a final fight against the three warriors. When Master Xehanort arrives, he splits into two forms, and the second, less clear form turns into the apprentice. He fights very acrobatically, taking on Ven and Aqua with his Keyblade and with magic. He is able to keep them at bay for a long while, appearing equal to the duo. The apprentice always wears a black and red bodysuit and a silver helmet, hiding his face from view. His appearance is quite similar to Riku's Darkness form from the original Kingdom Hearts. He wields an unknown keyblade that bears similar colors to his suit. His Keyblade also has a similar centre to Way to Dawn and Soul Eater, with a blue, demonic eye just above the handle. The apprentice is a skilled warrior with the Keyblade and with magic. He is seen casting thunder and blizzard magic, performing complicated acrobatics, and is even riding the flying Keyblades that Master Xehanort sends out. During a Birth By Sleep trailer Master Xehanort proceeds to beckon someone to "defeat the darkness" and to "correct his mistake," gesturing toward his apprentice. Some fans have theorized that Master Xehanort’s apprentice might in fact be the Xehanort seen in Kingdom Hearts II.
